About

The Fototerra- Sonomatic JV combines the world-class inspection technology, engineering expertise, and robotics capabilities of Sonomatic with the in-country knowledge, operational footprint, and client relationships of Fototerra to deliver a new benchmark for subsea inspection and integrity services in Brazil. Sonomatic brings over 35 years of global leadership in advanced non-destructive testing (NDT), robotic inspection systems, and integrity engineering.

With an in-house R&D team (E2i) and a full suite of proven inspection tools—from MEC™ and PAUT to photogrammetry and digital twins—Sonomatic enables reliable, high-precision data acquisition and actionable integrity insights even in the most challenging offshore environments.

Fototerra complements this offering with its deep understanding of the Brazilian offshore energy landscape, providing vital local content, regulatory alignment, and logistics support. Their operational base and stakeholder networks ensure smooth, compliant delivery of projects across Brazil’s offshore oil and gas sector.

Together, the JV offers Brazilian operators an integrated solution for life-of-field asset management, focusing on safety, cost efficiency, and sustainability through robotic inspection technologies. The collaboration is purpose-built to support FPSOs, risers, mooring systems, and subsea infrastructure

More About Fototerra Sonomatic

Fototerra Sonomatic is a newly formed joint venture between Sonomatic, a global leader in advanced non-destructive testing (NDT), and Fototerra, a trusted name in Brazil with over 30 years of experience in subsea data processing, photogrammetry, and 3D modelling. Together, we unite international inspection expertise with deep local knowledge to serve Brazil’s dynamic and rapidly growing oil and gas industry.

With Brazil positioned as one of the world’s most important energy markets, Fototerra Sonomatic was created to meet the increasing demand for advanced integrity and inspection services. Our fully equipped operational base and technical support workshop in Macaé, backed by commercial offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and an R&D unit in Salvador, enable us to deliver responsive, innovative, and locally tailored solutions across the region.

We are committed to deploying cutting-edge NDT technologies, robotic inspection tools, and specialised equipment designed to meet Brazil’s unique offshore challenges. Our goal is to build national capacity and provide end-to-end support through a fully integrated team focused on quality, safety, and sustainable industry development.

Fototerra Sonomatic is already delivering key projects involving flexible risers, mooring chains, ballast tanks, and robotic hull inspections. These initiatives mark the beginning of our long-term mission: to become Brazil’s leading provider of subsea and topside inspection services—trusted, innovative, and deeply rooted in the local energy landscape.

Health, safety, and environmental excellence

At the Fototerra- Sonomatic JV, our core values are centred on quality and the care we show for our people, clients, and the environment. We uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental responsibility, embedding these principles into every aspect of our operations in Brazil and beyond.

As a provider of advanced subsea inspection, integrity, and engineering services, we recognise that the nature of our work demands absolute consistency, reliability, and safety. That’s why we are committed to removing people from harm by using technology and robotics to eliminate the need for divers, confined space entry, and working at height wherever possible.

Through continuous innovation, we are redefining how inspection is performed—deploying remotely operated systems and advanced sensors to protect lives while enhancing data quality and operational efficiency.

Sonomatic and Fototerra are united in their commitment to a safe, healthy, and forward-thinking working environment. We actively collaborate with employees, clients, and stakeholders to reinforce a shared culture of care, innovation, and incident-free operations. Maintaining and evolving this approach is fundamental to our mission.
